Taximetrics

This post is courtesy of Ms. Joanie Shibuya of Honolulu and is about a uniquely Hawaiian company called "Taximetrics". I am unsure whether this was a taxi company in Honolulu or a small manufacturer of taxi components. Either way the Taximetrics stock certificate (front and back) is included here.

Besides having a cool company name not much seems to have survived. I would love to know more about the company. To that end I did a little web surfing about the owner, George Ikeda, and it appears that he was a petitioner for several measures before the city/county government.

Council Bills and Resolutions (DATA FOR THIS RECORD AS OF 12/27/96)

There was not much more beside that. Here is his obituary...(1997): "George K. Ikeda, 72, of Honolulu, a retired Taxi Meters Ltd. president, died Dec. 23 at home. Born in Kealia, Kauai, he is survived by wife Winifred K.; sons Brian T. and Randal H.; daughters Patti K. Ikeda and Lori M. Glowacz; mother Shizuko; brother Paul T.; and six grandchildren. Memorial service: noon Saturday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Casual attire. No flowers."

Do you know something more about the man or the company? If you do, please kindly let me know.

  2. Taxi is a very comfortable and easy way of transportation. Now a days you can hire a taxi at very low price. Detroit airport taxi offer flat rates and special discount for senior citizens.
